What does a Quality Analyst II do at Modea?
The Quality Analyst II at Modea is a consultant and investigative specialist responsible for evaluating the integrity and excellence of digital products for our healthcare clients. This individual acts as a bridge between complex technical requirements and the end-user experience, utilizing methodical exploration and deep analytical thinking to protect product quality.
We are looking for a resourceful problem solver who doesn't just check boxes but actively consults with clients and project teams to diagnose deep-seated defects and mitigate risk. You must possess a sharp investigative instinct for uncovering non-obvious problems and the professional discipline to maintain high standards through every development cycle. You are a student of the craft, constantly looking for ways to integrate modern tools like AI and automated frameworks to make our testing lifecycle smarter and more efficient.
Here are a few specific things we’d be looking for you to do:
Investigative Consulting & Strategy
- Strategic Risk Analysis: Learn the product deeply to identify potential risks and consult with clients and teams on recommended actions and quality improvements.
- Critical Issue Diagnosis: Use exploratory testing techniques and high-level analytical thinking to find and investigate bugs across multiple browsers and devices, focusing on the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
- Quality Advocacy: Serve as the primary advocate for the end-user, verifying that functionality, design, and ADA accessibility are never compromised.
- Performance & API Integrity: Design and execute performance testing scripts using JMeter to verify stability under load, and conduct thorough API testing to validate data communication between services.
- Security Fundamentals: Evaluate web applications against core security principles to identify vulnerabilities.
- Automation & AI Integration: Create and maintain automated test suites using Mabl and Appium, while proactively leveraging AI-assisted tools to optimize the testing lifecycle.
- Technical Communication: Author clear, reproducible bug reports and technical user guides that translate complex defects into actionable items for developers and stakeholders.
- Process Leadership: Oversee the use of quality best practices throughout the SDLC, verifying that specifications are met across all platforms from discovery to post-launch.

- Analytical Depth: Strong critical thinking and test design skills used to navigate conflicting priorities and diagnose complex, underlying product issues.
- Consulting Mindset: Ability to communicate technical testing concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders and influence product direction through data-backed quality insights.
- Technical Versatility: Deep understanding of the languages of development and design, specifically as they relate to API structures, web security, and automated patterns.
- Methodical Precision: A commitment to high standards and the ability to maintain a high level of focus in structured, technical environments without losing sight of the big picture.
Here is a list of minimum requirements for this role:
- Experience: 2+ years of context-driven testing experience or equivalent education.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Management, Marketing, (or a related field) or equivalent experience
Additionally, here is a list of preferred skills and qualities:
- Previous experience working within healthcare or for a consulting agency.
- Experience with JMeter for performance benchmarking and familiarity with API testing tools like Postman.
- Foundational knowledge of web security fundamentals, Web Accessibility Guidelines and experience building or maintaining automated test suites.
- Hands on experience with modeling, test design, and working with mind maps.
- Experience with Rapid Software Testing (RST), and using AI tools to enhance testing workflows.

Work environment:
Modeans are able to work at any location in Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina, unless otherwise required by job responsibilities. We offer a modern office located in Blacksburg, VA. Our office provides an indoor space with moderate temperatures and noise levels. This allows employees to choose a fully-office, fully-remote, or hybrid work experience. Employees may occasionally need to travel to our offices or other locations for items such as training or client visits. We will also provide employees with tools to do their job at home as well as in the office.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the duration of the workday. Individuals must have the ability to constantly operate a computer. Must have the ability to converse with and exchange information with clients and coworkers both in person and through a computer. Capable of occasionally transporting items of 10 lbs or less to and from the office.
